Hardware Tutorials

The WormBot is built out of the platform of the MakeBlock XYplotter robotics kit. From a harware standpoint the WormBot simply replaces the drawing or engraving components of the XYplotter with a camera. The resulting robot is then fitted with a transillumination arm to image the worms with optimal contrast and the robot is affixed to an optically clear table that contains 12 slots to hold microtiter plates.

Software Documentation

The WormBot runs on an Linux workstation running an Apache webserver. To begin using the WormBot you will need a desktop computer with Ubuntu installed. All of the installation materials were targetted for Ubuntu 16.04 LTS but any Debian based system should be compatible with the Wormbot Software. Once you have a computer with Ubuntu installed and a few large (~several TB) hard drives placed into the machine you can procede with the installation instructions below.
